A four-page summary of CEF Ghana can be found on pages 26-29 of the Commonwealth Education Fund: Final Report (2009).

This final project report is based on external end of project evaluations (EPEs) of CEF conducted within the 16 CEF project countries and provides short profiles of each country and regional organisation CEF supported. It also draws on a global CEF final evaluation conducted for CEF and the Department for International Development (DFID) by Eric Woods, an independent consultant, and includes a chapter on lessons learned from his report.

CEF Gender Equality in Education Project (GEEP)
GEEP was a two year project of capacity building for gender equality in the CEF, its work and its outcomes. Ghana was one of the four countries working on this project. For more information, please click here to visit the CEF Gender Equality in Education webpage.

Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition ( GNECC) is a network of civil society organisations established in 1999. GNECC main goal is to advocate for the attainment of the Education for All declaration and the Millennium Development Goals in Ghana.

Northern Network for Education Development (NNED) is a network of civil society organisations whose aim is to harmonise the collective efforts, energy and resources of all people with interest in Northern Ghana to address challenges facing education development.

Action for Rural Education (ARE) worked in communities in cocoa growing districts, who faced particular education challenges due to their remote location. CEF, supported by the Cadbury Schweppes Foundation, funded ARE to help communities by: strengthening school-community links and help local people take action on education issues - e.g. to advocate for increased teacher training and deployment of trained teachers to underserved communities, and to promote transparency and accountability through budget tracking at the local level.
